Indications
Linezolid is indicated for treating the following infections in adults and pediatric patients:
- Nosocomial Pneumonia
- Community-Acquired Pneumonia
- Complicated Skin and Skin Structure Infections (including diabetic foot infections without osteomyelitis)
- Uncomplicated Skin and Skin Structure Infections
- Vancomycin-Resistant Enterococcus faecium Infections
Note: Not effective against Gram-negative infections.
Dosage and Administration
Adults:
- 600 mg every 12 hours (oral/IV)
Pediatric:
- 10 mg/kg every 8 hours (oral/IV)
- Duration varies by condition (10 to 28 days)
Renal Impairment: Dose adjustments may be required.
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to Linezolid
- Concurrent use with MAO inhibitors
Warnings and Precautions
- Myelosuppression: Regular blood count monitoring
- Peripheral and Optic Neuropathy: Monitor visual function
- Serotonin Syndrome: Caution with serotonergic agents
- Clostridioides difficile-Associated Diarrhea (CDAD): Monitor for symptoms
- Blood Pressure Monitoring: Necessary in hypertensive patients
- Hypoglycemia: Caution in diabetic patients

Storage

- Report any signs of visual impairment, prolonged diarrhea, or unusual bruising/bleeding.
